H&M’s latest designer collaboration comes with a high-glamour punch, thanks to Paco Rabanne.
The Spanish fashion brand is the affordable retailer’s latest high-end collaborator, following in the footsteps of luxury labels including Mugler, Simone Rocha and Moschino. This time around, Rabanne’s creative director Julien Dossena has played with the brand’s signature glamour and ’60s futurism for a shiny, shimmering collection — which drops on Nov. 9, just in time for the holidays.
The resulting line highlights several glamorous women’s footwear styles, including sequined pool slides, heeled silver sandals and a pair of swirling gold and silver Western boots. The same pointed-toe boots can also be seen in the mens’ offering, where they come in monochrome silver and black palettes.
Where fashion is concerned, the collection includes an array of embellished women’s dresses and separates in silver, gold, red, purple and green hues. Similar colors can also be seen in the menswear offerings, which feature neutral and metallic suiting, retro tracksuits and printed and textured tops. The line features numerous styles covered in metallic sequins and chainmail — a Rabanne signature — as well as delicate lace, crystals and fringe, crafted with recycled metal, upcycled PET sequins and rhinestones.
The collection is complete with an array of sequined and mesh handbags and jewelry, as well as a metallic H&M Home capsule of furniture and home accessories.
In the spirit of sustainability, specific pieces from H&M and Rabanne’s collection will also be available to rent within specific stores in London, Berlin, Stockholm, Amsterdam and Antwerp.
Aside from its main collection, H&M and Paco Rabanne’s new line also comes accompanied by a fashionable short film — which you can now view on YouTube. The clip, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Xavier Dolan, finds a crew of models — including Anok Yai, Noma Han, Rianne Van Rompaey, Vinnie Hacker and Issa Perica — at sunset, celebrating with an all-night pool party while wearing the collaboration’s high-shine pieces.
“I’ve always admired Xavier Dolan for his emotional film-making and his inventiveness in capturing the unsaid,” Dossena said in a brand statement. “I wanted to bring a little cinema to the Rabanne H&M collaboration, paired with Xavier’s sophisticated visual and musical taste. It’s about people having fun together, creating beautiful moments.”
H&M and Paco Rabanne’s collaboration drops in-stores and on H&M’s website on Nov. 9.
