Will Smith was all smiles on March 26 to celebrate the renaming of a street in his home city of Philadelphia that will now be known as “Will Smith Way” in his honor. Smith was on hand with his mother, Caroline Bright Smith, who was there to watch her son receive the honor.
For the event, which took place on 59th street in West Philly, Smith chose a casual khaki suit with a white Dsquared2 T-shirt. He paired the look with black socks and a small black leather watch.
For shoes, Smith stayed in the tan world. He wore a pair of Christian Louboutin‘s Chambelimoc collar pin penny loafers. The shoes are a sleek design made of soft suede from calf leather. The beige style also features tonal raw-edge trims. The shoe notably includes a silver-tone collar pin on the vamp which encapsulates the simple but chic nature often seen in Louboutin designs.
There is a round toe as well as a stacked heel. The shoes feature the Christian Louboutin trademark red sole as well. Christian Louboutin is selling the Chambelimoc loafer for $1,195.
Although they aren’t as visible in the “Bad Boy” star’s loafers, all Christian Louboutin shoes feature the designer’s signature red soles.
They were inspired by the red nail polish of a secretary and applied as lacquer to the bottoms of every design from the company. After trademarking the design detail, Louboutin has taken other brands to court to protect the usage.
Most notably, in 2011, Louboutin sued Yves Saint Laurent when the company released a line of red heels that included red soles. At the conclusion of that case, courts ruled that the Louboutin trademark is only enforceable for lacquered red soles that are contrasting in color to the shoe’s upper. This year, the company has taken its red soles a step further. Newer designs including the Miss Z pump include a so-called Everlasting Sole which does not chip as other Louboutin soles do.
Smith’s new album “Based on a True Story” arrives on March 28.
