When it comes to fashion and style, there’s no one like Tracee Ellis Ross. So it is no surprise that the “Girlfriends” alum is gearing up to receive the award for Fashion Trailblazer at the WWD’s Inaugural Style Awards on Friday. To prove that she is more than worthy of the award, the actress shared a look back at her best style moments from 2024, which included some eye-grabbing shoes and footwear.
Ross’s fashion style is centered around having fun with fashion and showcasing her individuality. She is renowned for her bold and eclectic fashion sense, often incorporating bright hues, striking prints, and unconventional silhouettes. Her shoe collection is just as impressive, featuring a variety of footwear styles ranging from pumps to sandals and boots by top brands like Versace, Andrea Wazen, and Gucci. When she’s not wearing heels, the Golden Globe Award winner often completes her looks with an array of sneaker silhouettes, proving that classic kicks can be styled in several different ways and offering ample inspiration for sneaker outfits.
Looking back at 2024, the actress recounted some of her favorite shoe and style moments. Here are some of our faves.
Purple Ferragamo Feather Pumps
Tracee Ellis Ross wore a pair of purple feather-laden pumps by Ferragamo to a Harper’s Bazaar cocktail party during New York Fashion Week. The shoes, created by Ferragamo’s Creative Director Maximilian Davis, are known simply as the pump with feathers. They feature deep purple and white ostrich feather appliques applied entirely by hand, as well as sharp triangular pointed toes. The textural feather appliques elevate the otherwise classic pump silhouette, offering a playful touch and embodying high-octane glamour.
Gold Bottega Veneta Metallic Mules
The actress and entrepreneur attended the 17th annual Harlem’s Fashion Row Fashion Show & Style Awards on September 3rd. She wore a bold red leather jacket from Bottega Veneta, accented with gold mules from the same brand.
The backless shoes are easy to slip on and off. They have an ultra-sharp toe, a curved vamp, and a sculpted wedge-like sole with a short slanted heel.
Black Moto Boots
Tracee Ellis Ross’s all-black leather ensemble for the Mercedes-Benz G-Class Los Angeles world premiere party on April 23rd was the perfect choice. Her smooth, moto-inspired leather boots with a wide round toe added a touch of edge to the look.
Gold Strappy Sandals
She looked to her longtime stylist Karla Welch for her getup at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards. She dressed in a white-hot design from Sportmax’s spring 2024 ready-to-wear collection. On her feet, she opted for gold strappy sandals that spotlighted a pointed-toe and thin ankle strap. The sandals were made of a soft, supple leather that hugged her feet perfectly.
Brown Maison Margiela Boots
Ross slipped on this unique silhouette multiple times this year and rightfully so. These knee-high slip-on boots, with MM6’s signature anatomic toe shape, are crafted from velvety soft suede. The boot’s standout feature is an oversized shaft with an inner boot shaft designed to secure the foot. MM6’s subtle signature, a horizontal white stitch line, is visible on the back of the shoe. Whether with a flowy midi dress or baggy jeans, she showed us the versatility of these boots.
Loewe Black Toy Pumps
For the 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards ceremony, the “blackish” alum donned a Loewe colorblock midi dress that redefined the red-carpet cutout trend. The dress featured black, gray, red, and mint fabric draped across her body, with daring cutouts along the sides and front. She complemented the dress with distinctive accessories: black leather Loewe round-toe heels with a trumpet heel, a pair of large gemstone rings in green and orange, a stack of gold chain bracelets with a large orange oval crystal, and black bead dangle earrings.
Christian Louboutin Leopard Pony Hair Sandals
Posing in the mirror for a fit check, Ross showed off these rare Christian Louboutin sandals. These stunning strappy heels, crafted from a luxurious blend of fur and leather, are a must-have for your collection! The bold animal print, open-toe design, and lace-up closure create a comfortable yet glamorous look, perfect for any occasion. The high stiletto heel adds a touch of elegance, while the ankle strap and adjustable features ensure a secure and breathable fit.
Miu Miu Raffia Dual-Grip Comfort Sandals
When she’s opting for cozier moments, you find Ross in these Miu Miu sandals. They feature an open toe design, dual grip strap upper, logo lettering at vamp, a molded comfort footbed and a rubber outsole.
Magda Butyrm Peep Toe Mules
These elegant, open-toed mules were crafted in Italy and are distinguished by a striking 3D flower accent at the heel, a signature design element of the Magda brand. The shoes are elevated by a 105mm heel, adding a statuesque touch to the overall design. She elevated an all-black look with these mules.
Alaia Ballet Flats
Another off duty look featured a flat design. These ballet flats, crafted in Italy, draw inspiration from traditional Japanese footwear. They seamlessly blend the elegance of Italian design with the minimalist aesthetic of Japanese shoes. The flats feature a comfortable rubber sole, ensuring practicality without compromising style.
Asics Gel-Kayano Legacy
She paired an all white look with a pop of brown with Asics kicks. The Gel-Kayano® Legacy sneaker takes design cues from various Gel-Kayano® models and important events throughout the 30-year history of the series. The Gel-Kayano® 14 sneaker was used as the foundation for this silhouette’s base construction, and its upper was modified with different materials and badge details from different eras of the Gel-Kayano® timeline. This shoe is available in two different colorways to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary.
