Tiffany Haddish looked ready to win a fight in black combat boots and a tailored brown jumpsuit at the premiere of “Love Hurts” at the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre on Monday in Hollywood, Calif.
The actor opted for a classic black leather round-toe lace-up combat boot with a feminine twist, an approximately two-and-a-half-inch block. Her footwear complimented her brown tie-dyed button-up Retrofete jumpsuit, which featured a fitted jogger style leg and flattering belted waist.
Haddish was in the attendance to celebrate the film’s release which features a stellar cast, including Ke Huy Quan, Ariana DeBose, Marshawn Lynch, Daniel Wu and Sean Astin who also walked the carpet, which was decorated with giant candy hearts bearing the movie’s name.
Quan and DeBose co-star in the rom-com action flick about a relator dragged back into his past life of crime. It is the directorial debut of Jonathan Eusebio, who has worked as stunt and fight coordinator on major action films including “The Fall Guy” and “The Matrix Resurrections.”
As their name suggests, combat boots were originally designed to be worn by soldiers on the battlefield. The utilitarian footwear was created for foot protection, ankle support and a gripping tread. Dr. Martens’ combat boots were adopted by counterculture movements, first in 1970s England and expanding to goth, punk, grunge and heavy metal scenes in Europe and the U.S. in the 1980s and 1990s.
This is not the first time the “Girls Trip” star has rocked combat boots at an event. In 2018, she wore a designer pair from Louis Vuitton at the Hunter for Target Ultimate Family Festival. Yet she typically opts for glamorous red-carpet footwear in bold and shiny colors, including sleek pointed-toe pumps and strappy, crystal-embellished sandals by designers like Giuseppe Zanotti and Christian Louboutin. Off the red carpet, Haddish opts for comfort in shearling slippers or eye-catching sneakers, particularly J.W. Anderson’s glittery tri-color Converse.
“Love Hurts” hits theaters on Feb. 7, while Haddish kicks off her new comedy show tour with the “Funny and Fearless Tour” on Feb. 20 in Kansas, wrapping up in North Dakota in May.
