Teyana Taylor stunned in a blush cut-out gown and coordinating sandals at Essence‘s annual Black Women in Hollywood Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday.
The multi-talented artist, who was among the honorees last night, wore a custom gown courtesy of renowned Los Angeles-based brand Amiri. While the color of the sultry, earth-toned dress was understated, the design was anything but, with strategic cut-outs and a steep side slit. The full-length look also featured a boat-style neckline, long sleeves, and gathered detailing.
As for shoes, Taylor opted for Tom Ford’s celebrity-favorite Padlock sandals in a neutral pink color that effortlessly complemented her gown. The slinky, pointed-toe shoes are crafted in smooth leather and set on a shiny gold stiletto heel. A gold padlock charm adorns the ankle strap, which crisscrosses at the back, finishing off the eye-catching design. The exact colorway is currently available to shop online via farfetch.com.
The “Coming 2 America” actress is hardly the only famous face to step out in Ford’s Padlock sandals. Ashanti and Keke Palmer have both sported the decorated style in the new year. The latter wore a gold metallic version for an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen” last month. Ashanti sported a similar gold-tinted iteration at the premiere of her new film “No Address” on Feb. 18. Meanwhile, Rihanna was pictured in a glossy black edition on multiple occasions last fall. The “Needed Me” hitmaker is a longtime fan of the bold sandals. Katy Perry also wore white Padlock sandals at an event last summer.
In regards to Amiri, Taylor has been wearing looks from the popular brand for years. Founder Mike Amiri launched his eponymous label in 2014, getting his start by creating custom stage pieces for famous rock stars like Axl Rose and Steven Tyler. Justin Bieber, Travis Kelce, Barry Keoghan, and Jared Leto are all fans of the brand. Notably, Kelce donned a 70s-inspired custom Amiri suit at Super Bowl LIX just weeks ago.
Amiri eventually expanded in 2016, with the brand offering women’s ready-to-wear, footwear, and accessories. Notable women who have worn Amiri recently include Rihanna, Heidi Klum, Kelly Rowland, Nikki Bella, Jessica Alba, and Kelly Ripa.
