Taylor Swift is back in her thigh-high boots.
The singer hit the black carpet for MTV’s Video Music Awards in New York tonight fresh off making a series of headlines, first on a weekend of dates with her boyfriend Travis Kelce and then endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for president. Now, the global megastar is at the VMAs where she is poised to make history, wearing a yellow and black plaid look featuring a choker and corset as well as an over-the-knee boot.
The ensemble seemed to show the tougher edge of Swift. Done in a tartan, the look featured a zippered bustier and a skirt, attached to her waist with a clip over black velvet hot pants. The look came from Christian Dior’s resort 2025 collection and was made of a printed technical taffeta. She also wore a pair of fingerless elbow length gloves that featured straps on the sides, seemingly inspired from motorcycle gear.
The leather of those accessories was continued down into her Stuart Weitzman boots. Styled by Joseph Cassell Falconer, Swift wore a pair of over-the-knee boots featuring a sharply pointed toe. The black shoes also featured a high and dangerously skinny stiletto heel.
The footwear is the Weitzman UltraStuart Maverick boot. It features buckle detailing on the inner thigh and silver-tone hardware. combines our signature thigh-high boot design with this season’s must-have buckle trend. The edgy boot is set on a sleek 100-mm stiletto heel that offers a wearable lift without sacrificing style. Stuart Weitzman sells it for $950.
Swift has a penchant for over the knee boots. Last week for a Kansas City Chiefs game, she was spotted in a pair of Giuseppe Zanotti red thigh-high boots. Those shoes, as well as the black ones she wore to the VMAs, fall in line with trends seen on the Paris and Milan runways for the fall 2024 season. She had recently taken a break from the boots this week, wearing a series of sandals including Gucci’s Lady silhouette in both a platform and non-platform version.
