Taraji P. Henson knows how to stand out. “The Color Purple” actress attended the 2025 Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards which took place at the Fairmont Century Plaza on Feb. 27 in Los Angeles, California. As the awards are celebrating their 18th year, and their 2025 honorees include Marla Gibbs, Teyana Taylor, Cynthia Erivo, and Raamla Mohamed.
For the event, Henson opted for a low cut, powder blue blazer mini dress with wide sleeves. While the dress was more on the pastel side, she went for a pop of color wearing the Martha sandal by René Caovilla in the bright fuchsia shade.
The “Empire” alum’s eye-grabbing footwear choice elongated her legs and stood out against the white carpet and green backdrop at the event. The heels feature a crystal-embellished buckle, made out of hand-applied rhinestones, that helps secure the bold strap that wraps around the ankle. The satin sandal features a thick band on the upper over the top of the foot, a rounded toe, a stiletto heel measuing 4.1’’ and the designer’s signature Stardust sole. The shoes are hand-made in Italy.
They currently are available for sale on the luxury footwear brand’s website for $1.280. For over a century, Rene Caovilla has been captivating women worldwide with luxury Italian shoes. The city of Venice was the inspiration for designer René Fernando Caovilla’s creations. On Wednesday, “Real Housewives” alum Kandi Burruss, who was also at the Essence event, was spotted wearing a pair of the designer’s shoes in NYC.
Aside from Rene Caovilla, Henson tends to go for unique and vibrant footwear that combine perfectly with her larger than life personality. Last year at the premiere of her show “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist” in New York, she wore an intricate pair of Gianvito Rossi heeled sandals, opting for the designer’s Lucrezia style.
