Saweetie loves her “icy” shoes. The rapper brought in the new year down in Lagos, Nigeria. She posted about the trip on Instagram and in her photos and videos, the performer wore a white and green bikini as well as short shorts. But her fans had their eyes glued on her sparkly stilettos.

In the Instagram post, Saweetie sported two pairs of wraparound heels both from Rene Caovilla. The first photo featured her showing off the soles of her shoes and they were covered in sparkles. In one video she had laid out her outfit with the bikini top and shorts she paired the Rene Caovilla Cleo heel in neon yellow. “Forget red bottoms..I need the icy bottom heels!” one fan commented, to which another responded: “No, seriously! I came to the comments to find the brand!!!”

The Cleo features the company’s signature wrap around style meaning that in addition to the two straps across the foot, one strap curls around the bottom of the ankle in a serpentine fashion. The straps are all embellished in crystals. In addition, the sole of the sandal is embellished in crystals. The Cleo was first designed in 1969 by namesake Rene Caovilla, inspired by a trip to the Archaeological Museum in Naples. The 50th anniversary of the Cleo was celebrated In 2023 as the style was first released in 1973.

Those sandals do not appear to be the shoes she actually chose to wear. In another video in the same carousel, Saweetie wears the look with another pair of Rene Caovilla heels. Instead of the yellow Cleo she wore a pink version of the company’s Margot sandal.

At first glance the two shoes may seem the same but there are key differences: the Margot style includes an asymmetrical strap across the foot. In addition, the winding ankle strap starts at the bottom of the stiletto instead of the sole of the shoe. Both shoes include a heel of almost five inches.

This isn’t Saweetie’s first time wearing Caovilla heels. In fact, she seems to prefer them. In 2021, the rapper went to the Met Gala wearing a cutout dress from Christian Cowan. Beneath the high front slit of the dress the “Tap In” performer wore a pair of Rene Caovilla Cleo sandals. Then, earlier this year during Pride month she attended a relaunch party at The Abbey wearing a pair of grey Rene Caovilla Margot heels.
