Salma Hayek was one of many A-listers in attendance at WSJ Magazine’s 14th Annual Innovator Awards which took place at The Museum of Modern Art in New York yesterday.
This year, the magazine celebrated seven revolutionary icons in recognition of their outstanding achievements in their respective fields. These icons included big names from fashion to film and sports including Charli XCX, Marc Jacobs and Hayek, among others. Hayek received the Entertainment & Altruism Award from her friend Penélope Cruz.
Towering above the rest, the “Desperado” actress sported a pair of lofty platform sandals. A favorite silhouette of the thespian’s, the sandal pick included black satin uppers, rounded open toes and a thin crisscrossing strappy construction that situated the shoe in place.

Platform soles gave way to 4 to 5-inch stiletto heels, further creating the illusion of height. The shoe choice can be likened to similar silhouettes from top brands like Aquazzura, Christian Louboutin, Steve Madden and Saint Laurent, among others.
From satin to leather, sandal to pump, platform shoes are a staple of many celebs’ closets, Hayek included. Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lopez, Florence Pugh and Sofia Vergara are just a handful of stars who also gravitate towards platform silhouettes.
Turning heads in vibrant hues, Hayek sported a striking strapless fiery red gown. The look included a form-fitted bodice and a structured skirt that jutted out at the hips, creating dimension. On the accessories front, the “Eternals” actress donned high-shine gemstone-encrusted jewelry, imparting a dazzling shine.
Hayek is a longtime wearer of platform heels, both on and off the red carpet. For formal occasions, the “Frida” star often straps into matte neutral or metallic pairs, as well as pointed-toe boots or pumps from a range of luxury brands.
When off-duty, she can also be seen in Stella McCartney platform brogues. Over the years, she’s become a mainstay during Fashion Month, regularly attending fashion shows for brands including Gucci, Balenciaga, Altuzarra and Saint Laurent.
