Joseph “Run” Simmons, Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels of the iconic rap group Run D.M.C were spotted at the 2024 Footwear News Achievement Awards wearing Adidas from head to toe.
Simmons aka Rev Run, opted for his traditional Adidas tracksuit, and while he has worn many different colors over the years, this go-round he wore the standard black shade. On his feet were a pair of white low-top Adidas sneakers, which have become his go-to over the decades, and, of course, his signature black hat.
While McDaniels aka D.M.C. didn’t wear an Adidas tracksuit, instead choosing a black vest and pants combo overtop a long-sleeve shirt that were from the brand as well, he also wore a pair of white low-top Adidas sneakers that matched his rap partner. The shoes are among some of the most popular from the company. Featuring the classic 3-stripes logo, and Cloudfoam Comfort cushioning, their versatile styling is what makes them such a popular choice.
For those who may not know, Run D.M.C. is the very first music group to ever have a partnership with a major athletic brand. The beginning of the group’s relationship with the company dates back to the release of their 1986 single “My Adidas” as the artists were huge fans of the brand, and wearing Superstars without laces before that was even a major sneaker trend. The massive success of the song resulted in more sales for the company, which eventually led to them establishing an official deal.
The FN Achievement Awards are an annual ceremony that honors some of the biggest and most impactful names and brands in the footwear space. Honorees include Angel Reese, A$AP Rocky and Puma for Collaboration of the Year, Adidas CEO Bjórn Gulden for Person of the Year and others.
