Rose Byrne was extremely relaxed in a high-fashion version of what people call the “ugly shoe.”
The actress went to film an appearance on “The View” in New York City on May 28. For the taping, she wore a baseball cap, a wrinkled oversized blue shirt, faded jeans and sandals.
Byrne is currently promoting her new film “Ezra.” In it, she plays Jenna, the mother of the titular Ezra, an autistic child. The project is a comedic drama.
For her shoes, Byrne chose a pair of grey slides from Dior. The styles a collaboration with Birkenstocks. A version of the Milano silhouette, the sandals were introduced for the European company’s fall 2022 collection.
The shoes are felt and in the classic Dior Grey. They also feature an orthopedic, anatomical footbed made of cork and latex. The Milano silhouette harkens back to the 1960s.
Birkenstocks have been creating shoes since 1774. In the 1930s, the company introduced the footbed seen in the Dior collaboration. Though the company was originally seen as largely a utilitarian show, it has come into the fashion conversation. In the 1960s and 1970s it was heavily associated with hippies. Since, it has become a fashion item.
In addition to Dior, the company has worked with others like Manolo Blahnik, Jil Sander and Rick Owens. In 2023, the company worked with Stussy, The Great, Tekla and Fear of God. The Stussy slides include a furry lining and a soft suede upper.
The company is continually expanding having opened shops in Miami’s Design District in Decemebr with plans for Austin and Nashville. In addition, the company is experimenting with a self-service hybrid model in Sevierville, Tenn. and Westergate, Ariz. Those locations stock more acessibly priced product like the company’s EVA collection which retails from $35 to $60.
This all comes after record revenue for the first quarter of 2024.
While leaving the taping, Byrne reappeared in a pair of year Hawn Bear open-toe mules from By Far. The sole of the shoe has a square shaped toe.
The shoe also features a pin thin stiletto heel.
