Rina Lipa put a twist on things at the “Challengers” U.K. premiere. The actress and model slipped into a pair of black JW Anderson heeled sandals for an appearance at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in London.
Lipa has a thing for black footwear. In December she wore over-the-knee black boots for the Fashion Awards in London. Back in 2022, she put on a pair of chunky black platform boots to attend the premiere of “Bridgerton’s” second season in London.
The “Challengers” premiere in London included other stars like Zendaya, Michael Faist and Josh O’Connor.
The 22-year-old chose a heeled sandal that seems simple from both a top and front view, but packs much of its design in its heel. The shoe features thin leather straps: one holds tight across the toe and the other wraps around the foot. The strap on the toe includes a small chain link detail.
The strap wraps around the foot, creating a slingback silhouette. It also features a small buckle at the ankle.
The shoe also includes a distinctive heel made of sculpted metal with a rubber injection. Like the other hardware, the heel is gold-tone. The shoe is currently available for $895.
The Ireland-born Jonathan Anderson launched his label JW Anderson in 2008. The creative has established himself as a designer’s designer, incorporating various conceptual ideas into his pieces, which often increases demand for them. In addition to running his own brand, he is the creative director of the Spanish label Loewe.
For the past few seasons, Anderson has worked with chain link detailing throughout his collections, including his footwear. His chain link loafer mule was a hot-ticket, covetable item and was introduced in 2020. He’s also created designs like a frog-faced mule.
