On Tuesday, Queen Camilla attended a ceremonial welcome of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan held at Horse Guards Parade in London. During the ceremony, Camilla was joined by her husband King Charles III and Prince William. The greeting was followed by a carriage ride to Buckingham Palace.
For the celebratory occasion, the queen sported a pair of taupe suede pumps, a staple in her extensive wardrobe. The royal’s style featured neutral textural suede uppers, pointed toes and short 0.5 to 1-inch heels in a thick block style that offered Camilla support and height. The sophisticated style complemented her ensemble, matching the neutral color scheme of the event.
Many women of the royal family, including Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, often gravitate towards suede pumps. These royal women, Queen Camilla included, often get their suede styles from brands like Aquazzura, Gianvito Rossi, Jimmy Choo and Stuart Weitzman, among others. The style is unique, given its suede uppers, and comes in a variety of colors. Often, Queen Camilla will opt for suede styles in neutral tones like tan and pastel shades that allow for easy color coordination, which she and Empress Masako did with their coordinating modest, neutral-hued heels.
Coupled with her suede footwear, she wore a neutral white v-neck tunic dress featuring pleating up the front. The dress was fitted with a sparkling floral brooch and accompanied by a black-and-white Philip Treacy hat — a favorite of the royals — and a white leather clutch. Queen Camilla wore this same hat at Buckingham Palace’s first garden part of 2024 last May. Like Queen Camilla, Empress Masako opted for a white hat and matching white dress, which had a delicate lace overlay that matched the bow on her hat.
Some of the footwear styles Camilla has frequently worn include Sole Bliss and Chanel’s block-heeled pumps in a range of neutral, navy and pink tones over the years for formal occasions. The queen recently wore a pair of suede pumps to the 80th Anniversary of D-Day that look almost identical to her footwear choice for this ceremonial welcome.
