The queen attended the final day of the annual horse riding event. One of only seven annual Concours Complet International Five Star events, the five-day competition is always held in the park of the Badminton House. This year’s trials took place from May 8 to the 12. Over the last 75 years, many members of the royal family have been seen attending the competition, including the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Since King Charles announced his postponement of public engagements, Queen Camilla has stepped up as a regular face for royal duties. On several occasions, she’s been seen wearing kitten heels. She visited the Royal London Hospital last week wearing a suede pair, similar to the shoes she wore to the Moreland Primary School a couple days before. She wore a cap-toe set to the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace the day before.

About the Shoes

Queen Camilla slipped into a pair of camel kitten heels for the occasion. The leather heels featured a sleek silhouette and an almond toe. The set was completed by a wooden block heel that was about 2 inches tall.

About Kitten Heels

Kitten heels were first popularized in the women’s retail market in the late 1950s. For the next decade, they were a highly requested silhouette, especially among young girls. Many considered them to be training heels because of the style’s stiletto, which is only 1 or 2 inches tall. The set is most often seen dressed in a leather material, with the heel often being replaced for a slingback strap.

Kitten heels continue to resurface in the fashion realm because they combine sophisticated styling with comfortability. In the past few years, they have spiked in popularity, appearing heavily on runway shows for top labels like Prada and Valentino.
