Olivia Wilde opted for sneakers.
The “Don’t Worry Darling” director put on a pair of mustard Gucci shoes, a collaboration with sportswear giant Adidas on the Gazelle silhouette, for a night out in Los Angeles on Friday into Saturday morning.
The “In Time” actress is a particular fan of the Gazelle. In September, she went to the gym wearing this exact shoe. Months later in December, she wore a blue and yellow colorway from the Gucci x Adidas Gazelle link up.
The sneaker that Wilde wore is similar in construction with the mega trendy Adidas sneaker: Samba. They are both low-top sneakers that borrow in design from soccer shoes. The Samba has recently been worn by the likes of Rosé as she walked through New York City ahead of the 2024 Met Gala. In March, Gigi Hadid was spotted in a pair of red Gazelle sneakers in NYC.
Wilde’s sneaker is the Adidas x Gucci Gazelle. The yellow lifestyle shoe features a velvet upper and a gum sole, and three burgundy stripes in leather wrap across the body of the shoe. The shoe was initially released in summer 2022 for $850 under the creative direction of then-Gucci design head Alessandro Michele.
The Gazelle was initially released in 1966 in red and blue. Those initial styles featured a suede upper. Though it has previously gone out of production twice, it’s been subsequently relaunched, often revered for its timeless attributes. Kith recently announced an Adidas collaboration that features a tonal purple Gazelle, which releases May 13. Adidas Spezial also celebrated its 10-year anniversary with a collection that included an all-black and all-white Gazelle in April.
While Wilde is a fan of Adidas sneakers and Lucchese ankle boots off the carpet, when the occasion calls for, the actress slips into higher styles. She regularly wears heeled sandals and elevated platforms from the likes of Christian Louboutin, Casadei, Jimmy Choo and Gucci, regularly reaching for metallic and embellished styles.
