Canadian singer Nelly Furtado was standing a few inches taller on Monday night. The performer attended the Los Angeles premiere for “The Greatest Hits” at El Capitan Theatre wearing a pair of black satin platform sandals.
Furtado appeared on the carpet with Lucy Boynton who stars in “The Greatest Hits.” That film is a romantic fantasy where songs can transport listeners back in time. Justin H Min and Austin Crute also appeared on the carpet.
Furtado’s footwear was a black silk satin sandal from Flor de Maria. Named the “Berta,” the strappy style pumped up the singer’s height with a tall stiletto heel. In addition to the heel, the shoe featured a thick platform sole. Combined, the shoe stands at 5.5 inches tall. The shoe is currently sold out on the brand’s site.
The sandal includes two criss crossed straps across the toe bed as well as an ankle strap for security with a tie closure. The heel counter also includes a cut out that reveals slivers of the Canadian’s ankle. She wore a similar shoe to the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. It was also black satin and featured two straps crossing across the toe bed.
Styled by Marc Andrew Smith, that option came from Miu Miu.
Furtado prefers glam when occasions call for it. Whether in pumps or in her favored open-toe heeled sandals, the star is at home in formal occasions wearing labels like Christian Louboutin and Miu Miu. Onstage and also when she’s off-duty, she prefers sneakers from brands like Nike and Asics as well as high fashion names like Balenciaga.
Sofia Vergara was also wearing platform sandals recently, during an appearance at a benefit for The Women’s Cancer Research Fund last week. Others like Storm Reid and Naomi Biden have been wearing open toe platform pumps.
