Naomi Osaka Takes Tenniscore to the Streets of NYC in Air Max Sneakers While Shooting Maybelline Commercial

Naomi Osaka has found a new tennis court: the streets of Midtown Manhattan.

The four-time Grand Slam winner repped Nike from head to toe while filming a Maybelline commercial in New York City on July 17. She showed off her tennis moves in a pair of blue and black Nike Air Max sneakers.

Osaka was seen posing with her tennis racket on top of a yellow taxi for part of the shoot. She was dressed in classic tennis attire courtesy of Nike, having signed a deal with the company in 2019 after leaving an Adidas partnership. Osaka wore a navy blue skort with a matching tank top bearing the trademark Swoosh logo. Starring in the upcoming commercial for the cosmetics company, Osaka was fittingly made up in a glowy soft glam look including a red lip.

Complementing her navy set, Osaka was ready to swing in a pair of Nike Air Max Dn SE sneakers in the Sky Blue/Hyper Blue/Black/Chamois colorway. The gradient design of the mesh upper features the lightest color in the center and fades outward into the darker hues; black laces starkly contrast the palest color in a striking design choice. Nike elucidates what makes the shoe special, revealing in the official description that it “features our Dynamic Air unit system of dual-pressure tubes, creating a reactive sensation with every step. This results in a futuristic design that’s comfortable enough to wear from day to night.” The sneakers are sold for $170.

Comfort, support and flexibility are of the utmost importance for a professional athlete, and Nike has been known to partner with the most elite players in the world over the past several decades. The company is also providing shoes and apparel for the 2024 Olympics — gymnast Simone Biles wore Air Max shoes alongside her teammates when she discovered she would be part of Team USA at the Paris Olympics this summer. Nike even designed an all-new breakdancing shoe for the Olympics, which will be featured in competition for the first time this year.
