Miley Cyrus is hitting the gym — in Gucci slingback heels.
The Grammy-winning “Flowers” singer discussed her unusual workout routine in a recent interview with W Magazine. She revealed that she doesn’t need sneakers to exercise — in fact, she opts for the very opposite type of shoe.
“My mantra is, like any athlete, ‘Practice how you perform.’ So that’s why I practice in my heels,” Cyrus told the outlet for its June cover story.
Cyrus, who has been trending online recently for her toned physique, continued, “The gym looks really tough, but then I’ve got my ivory Gucci slingbacks because they remind me of Marilyn Monroe. I train in heels, mostly. I’m interested in feminizing the workout space, because so much of the workout equipment is ugly.”
Indeed, Gucci heels are sure to stand out in any gym. Like many female pop stars, Cyrus is accustomed to wearing high heels while performing — which includes not just singing, but often dancing, strutting and running across massive stages to engage eager fans. Taylor Swift has discussed the preparation involved to move with such agility, revealing to Time that she runs on the treadmill (or walks fast, depending on song tempo) while singing her Eras Tour setlist.

Sabrina Carpenter, who recently accompanied Swift on “The Eras Tour” as her opening act, is known for wearing extremely tall platform boots during her performances. For example, she wore glittering black Naked Wolfe boots for the São Paolo, Brazil show. While the pop stars make it look easy, it takes a great deal of practice to move gracefully and swiftly in high heels.
Cyrus is on the cover of W Magazine after a whirlwind start to her year. She won Record of the Year at the 2024 Grammys and recently collaborated with Beyoncé for the duet “II MOST WANTED” on the acclaimed “Cowboy Carter” album. In honor of the collaboration, FN looked back at a few moments when the southern icons wore cowboy boots.
Fittingly, Cyrus wore a pair of Gucci slingback heels on the cover of W Magazine.
