Michelle Obama is solidifying her status as a boot queen. The former first lady has brought her insight and her fashion sense to SXSW, sitting down for a conversation in Austin on Thursday wearing a rust-colored set accented by a pair of black leather boots.
Obama participated in an event called “IMO Live: Michelle Obama, Craig Robinson & Dr. Laurie Santos,” which was a live taping of her new podcast she’s co-hosting alongside her brother, “IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson.”
Obama, who is known to work with stylist Meredith Koop, made a sartorial statement wearing a cropped jean jacket from Rabanne featuring graduated criss-crossed lacing on either side of the garment. Her flared pants featured the lacing as well. A simple black top provided a solid base for her ensemble. As for the rest of her look, she wore her hair in bohemian braids and her accessories included elegant sparkling earrings.
Adding another black accent to her outfit, Obama donned a pair of leather boots with a pointed toe and a distinctive tapered heel that narrowed from a wide top portion into a small square base. The boots featured a relatively close-fitting shaft as well as a side zipper.
The Higher Ground Productions co-founder appreciates a black leather shoe. She went for a daring footwear look when she appeared on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” in December, wearing slouchy thigh-high stiletto boots from Jimmy Choo with an asymmetrical black leather dress and gray blazer. Attending the Albies in September, Obama wore ultra-pointy black footwear, also from Jimmy Choo, to complement a custom Versace suit with safety pin adornments. See more of her style below.
