Meryl Streep Adds Red Carpet It Shoe to Pink Custom McQueen Suit at 2024 Emmys

Meryl Streep looked the picture of easy, breezy, feminine elegance at the 2024 Emmy Awards on Sunday. The actor was a breath of fresh air in a sharply tailored pink suit, with a handbag and a pair of silver sandals.
Streep’s suit was a custom design from McQueen. Styled by Micaela Erlanger, the look relied on McQueen’s forte as a tailoring house, with an impeccably fit suit with sharp shoulders. In all pink, it was matched with a pussy bow blouse. In her hand, Streep carried a mini version of the company’s crossbar bag. The handle design of that accessory riffs off of a collection designed by Lee Alexander McQueen himself.
Though the shoes are mostly covered, they do appear to be one of the trendiest shoes on red carpets right now: a strappy sandal. The wide leg of the trousers make it so much of the foot is hidden but what is visible shows that the footwear includes an open toe design. The shoes also appear to be a heel.
There have been many strappy sandals on red carpets recently. This encompasses tonight at the Emmy awards: Ayo Edebiri wore a barely-there Gianvito Rossi Ribbon heel which features two minimal straps; Padma Lakshmi wore a similarly minimal sandal in silver; and Janelle James had a few more straps and came in black.

Streep’s shoe was notably more complex in design than the others.
The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Dan and Eugene Levy, takes place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The award show is held to celebrate the best of television, awarding major players in the industry for their talents. Some popular shows nominated for awards this year include “Fellow Travelers,” “Fargo,” “Baby Reindeer,” “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans,” “Griselda” and “True Detective: Night Country.”
