Mary J. Blige made a striking appearance at the 2023 CFDA Awards on Monday night in New York City.
Blige , who wore a glamorous gown that eclipsed her shoes, was tapped to introduce a special hip-hop tribute film by legendary music video director Hype Williams during the ceremony. The “Family Affair” hitmaker donned a semi-sheer black dress featuring a dazzling crystal-embellished design throughout. The striking Christian Siriano design was complete with a high neck, long sleeves and a delicate train that trailed behind.
While covered on the white carpet, photos of Blige arriving at the American Museum of Natural History show her wearing strappy black stiletto sandals underneath her show-stopping dress. The style boasted a subtle platform sole and skinny heels that appeared to be approximately 5 inches high.
Blige styled her signature blonde tresses back in a sleek updo and pulled her head-turning look together with an assortment of shimmering statement jewelry, including earrings and chunky rings on either hand. The “Be Without You” singer also showed a smokey eye, a glossy pout and a colorful iridescent manicure.
The CFDA Awards honor American designers and brands of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. This year, the organization’s annual event will be held in partnership with Amazon Fashion in New York City. Anne Hathaway will serve as host of the star-studded occasion.
