Mary J. Blige stopped by MCM‘s Soho store in New York on Wednesday night to celebrate her label Sun Goddess Wines. The event was held ahead of the official start of New York Fashion Week.
The “Family Affair” songstress donned a dramatic pair of dark gladiator-style knee-high boots for the occasion. The shoes were comprised of a slouchy tattered silhouette featuring thin winding straps that intersected and traveled up the length of Blige’s legs, stopping just below her knees.
Commonly made of patent leather or suede, knee-high boots are often worn with short skirts, dresses, shorts and tight-fitting pants. The style can impart an air of drama to any ensemble. As we transition into fall, knee-high boots of all kinds are cropping up on famous feet more and more.
The multi-hyphenated talent was outfitted in an all-black ensemble comprised of a bra top accompanied by a corset featuring silver claps detailing all down the front. On the bottom, Blige donned a miniskirt that further streamlined her look. Rounding out her look, the “Just Fine” singer toted a silver shoulder bag.
Mary J. Blige’s shoe style is often glamorous and expressive. Known for her longtime love for boots on and offstage, the R&B songstress often wears styles in varying textures, heights and silhouettes from brands including Gucci, Christian Louboutin and Le Silla.
On the red carpet, Blige tends to gravitate towards platforms, pumps and stiletto sandals from luxury labels including Aquazzura, Brian Atwood and Jimmy Choo. She is also a longtime star in the fashion and beauty industries, serving as a campaign star and muse for brands including Dennis Basso, Timberland, Gold Bond and MAC over the years.
