Lupita Nyong’o is getting her Chanel looks in since being named a face of the histories label earlier this year. At the 15th Annual Governors Awards, the star wore a sheer black strapless dress with silver and gold embellishments. Along with it, she wore a pair of sandals from Chanel’s couture line.
The black and gold shoes are from Chanel’s spring 2024 collection. That range was designed by Virginie Viard and was inspired by ballet. The shoe in particular is a black sandal with an open toe. In addition, the upper features cut outs on the sides which expose the toes. The effect appears as if the upper is made of straps. This is all outlined in gold accents which matches Nong’o’s gold toe polish.
The shoe is a d’orsay style meaning that there is a front half and a back half with the middle of the foot completely exposed. The back half touts an ankle strap.

This isn’t the first time Nyong’o has pulled Chanel recently. Last month, while in London for a screening of “Wild Robot” she wore archival Chanel. She paired a cream pantsuit from the label’s fall 2021 couture line and a Robot minaudiere purse from a 2017 collection with a silver open-toe mule. She was named an ambassador for the brand only weeks before, at the beginning of October.
Chanel’s couture shoes are made by Maison Massaro, an atelier the company bought in 2002. There is a long relationship between Chanel and Massaro going back to the 1950s. The atelier was founded in 1894.
