Kendall Jenner Slips on Glossy Penny Loafers for New Calvin Klein Commercial
Kendall Jenner took one of the 2020’s biggest shoe trends to the streets for her latest campaign.
While shooting a Calvin Klein commercial in New York City, Jenner posed by a fountain in a pair of black penny loafers. The model’s style featured rounded toes topped by preppy penny straps, given a glossy sheen from their patent leather construction.
Thick, ridged black soles with chunky short heels completed the set with a whimsical edge. The base also gave Jenner’s preppy footwear a balanced, practical finish — similar to the thick soles that have grown in popularity throughout the current decade.
Indeed, loafers like Jenner’s are favored for their comfortable soles and vintage origins. Traditionally formal penny loafers have faced a large resurgence since 2020, which has continued as brands revamp the style with a range of colors, textures and heights — particularly with lugged soles, which brings them a utilitarian height boost. Pairs have been released year-round from a wide range of labels, as well, as seen in new styles from brands including Stuart Weitzman, Sam Edelman and G.H. Bass, among others.

Jenner’s loafers added a distinctly ’90s finish to her outfit for the occasion: a black crewneck tank top and shorts, layered beneath a light blue trench coat. In tandem with Klein’s classic minimalism, the “Kardashians” star’s only accessories were short, ribbed black socks, as well as rounded silver metal earrings.
For footwear, the former “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star typically wears a variety of both classic and trendy styles. For events and formal appearances, Jenner regularly dons strappy sandals and mules from brands like Amina Muaddi, Bottega Veneta and Saint Laurent. For off-duty moments and casual ensembles, she can be spotted in Nike and Converse sneakers, Birkenstock sandals and a range of boots from brands like Khaite, The Row and Stella McCartney.
