Kelsea Ballerini Wears a Tuxedo Inspired Balmain Off-the-Shoulder Dress and Suede Heels With Leather Collar for ‘Tonight Show’
Country singer Kelsea Ballerini opted for black for her appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” last night. The performer was styled by the duo Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn for the filming. For her interview, Ballerini wore a satin lapel off-the-shoulder crepe basque top from Balmain as a dress. She paired it with a pair of black pumps from Gianvito Rossi.
The shoes were the Gianvito Rossi Decollete Tuxedo pumps. Like the top she wore, it plays with the idea of tuxedo. Like most tuxedos, the upper of the shoe is made of opposing textiles: Ballerini’s included a black suede upper. The collar of the look was an opposing satin, as the lapels of a tuxedo are often an opposing fabric to the rest of the suit jacket.
The shoe is a pointed-toe pump meaning it covers the outer edges of the foot. As the Decollete style, it is cut far back on the foot, revealing additional cleavage of the top of the foot. It also features a high counter that could be likened to an upturned collar. This all sits atop a heel of almost four inches.

Gianvito Rossi does not appear to be currently selling the exact shoe that Ballerini wore on the show. Retailers like Baltini, Miinto and FarFetch offer the shoe in patent leather uppers with smooth leather collars.
Black pointed-toe pumps are a classic, nearly universal style. They are won by women year round and in a multitude of contexts. Suede versions can be worn year round but are often a go-to decision for colder months like fall and winter. They are viewed as both neutral and sophisticated.
Gianvito Rossi has been having a good year. In April, the company celebrated the ten year anniversary of its simple Portofino sandal with a limited-edition capsule. Since then, the company has put that shoe on Paige Butcher and Sarah Jessica Parker. The slingback trend has also been a boon for the company. Its simple Ribbon stiletto has been flaunted on red carpets by Dua Lipa, Ayo Edebiri, Angel Reese and Naomi Scott. Earlier this month, Rihanna wore an unreleased Gianvito Rossi sandal with crystal embellishment to A$AP Rocky’s birthday dinner in New York City. She just rewore that shoe in Los Angeles last night on a trip to Giorgio Baldi.
