Kelly Rowland hit the Croisette in stunning crimson in support of the premiere of the upcoming comedy “Marcello Mio” on May 21. In an elegant red gown that matched the tapis rouge, Rowland posed for photos outside the Palais des Festivals at the 77th Cannes Film Festival in the south of France.
Designed by Anamika Khanna, the strapless dress featured a subtle sweetheart neckline and draping fabric that criss-crossed along the bodice. The sheer layered material was gathered to create a fitted look, leading to a short flowing train.
The Destiny’s Child singer accessorized the look with bold jewelry statements, courtesy of Messika diamonds. She wore dangling diamond earrings to match a unique silver necklace resembling the wings of a bird; the necklace was also complete with a diamond centerpiece. Finally, a diamond-encrusted bangle made up of three bands adorned her left hand.
Although at times obscured by her long gown, Rowland’s footwear did not disappoint. Matching the rest of her accessories, her silver Jimmy Choo heels tied the look together. The pointed reflective toe peeked out beneath the dress to accentuate the refined red carpet look. A fan of bold colors recently, Rowland wore red pumps at a Baby2Baby event earlier this month.
Rowland held a small glittering silver clutch to finish off the look. Her platinum blond bob, styled by Haus of Shee, complemented her silver-focused aesthetic. Wilford Lenov styled Rowland’s look for the premiere.
Rowland received attention on the carpet not only for her impressive sartorial choices but also for a seemingly tense moment that passed between her and a festival security guard. After being rushed along the carpet, Rowland appeared to express anger at a guard for continuously guiding her up the stairs in very close proximity to her.
“Marcello Mio,” a French-Italian film directed by Christophe Honoré, focuses on actress Chiara Mastroianni and her real-life father Marcello Mastrioanni. It is screening in competition at Cannes.
