When it comes to footwear, Kelly Clarkson, who is turning 42 this Wednesday, has one rule: “She has to be comfortable,” celebrity stylist Micaela Erlanger told FN.
Clarkson started working with Erlanger after moving her daytime show to New York in September of last year. Since then, the singer’s been seen in heels from Aquazzura, Alexander McQueen, Gucci, Marion Parke and more on her show.
Erlanger, who also works with Lupita Nyong’o and Meryl Streep, revealed that one of the singer’s favorite styles is the classic platform.
“We do a lot of platforms. A lot, a lot of platforms and a lot of like really cute boots,” she said. “Especially when she’s performing, and she performs on every show. Let’s be honest, it’s not the easiest thing to run on a stage in heels, let alone walk in heels on any given day. ”

Erlanger said that working with Clarkson is a “joy.” “She is so phenomenal and lovely and fun. All the things that you see and sense about her through her show and when she performs is exactly how she is to work with and it’s been a really beautiful partnership,” the stylist added.
When choosing her outfits and footwear, Clarkson is “really practical,” according to the stylist. “We re-wear things that we love. If we have a pair of shoes that we love, we wear them again,” she said.
Erlanger will also dress Clarkson for her upcoming new gig; co-host of the Olympics 2024 Paris Games for NBC. The stylist promised some surprises for her fans, who, according to her, have been nothing but supportive of her work.
“It’s so sweet and supportive. It just feels good to know that people are inspired or appreciate the work that we do, and it’s so wonderful,” she said.
