Keke Palmer looked sharped at the 30th Essence Festival of Culture on July 7, wearing a pair of platform peep-toe pumps with a one-strap black dress. The four-day festival, which took place this year from July 4-7, celebrates Black culture through panel conversations, live music, and other activities in New Orleans.
The “Master of Me” memoirist wore a fitted black minidress to participate in programming held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. On Day Three of the festival, she participated in an Essence Authors conversation with Essence editor Nandi Howard.
Palmer’s asymmetrical dress featured one shoulder strap on the right, which created a diagonal outline across the top. The thick right strap was adorned with three large sequin flowers: two silver and one black. Palmer kept her accessories at a minimum and wore her dark hair straightened with a side part for the occasion.
To complete the sleek black outfit, the “Nope” actress slipped into a pair of pointed-toe pumps made of a shiny satin-like material. They included a pointed platform which offered the shoes extra height and flair. With a peep-toe design, the heels featured a curved strap across the toes. The design also involved a thin strap encircling the ankle.

Palmer has proven she knows how to style a heel. At the recent BET Awards on June 30, she wore sparkling silver platform stilettos with a matching silver dress. At Amazon’s Upfront presentation in May, the multi-hyphenate wore a pair of glossy black Christian Louboutin pumps bearing the brand’s classic red sole accent.
Palmer, now 30, first entered the entertainment industry as a child. See how her taste in shoes has evolved over the years here.
