Kate Upton Turns Sheer in Mesh Pump Shoes at 2024 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue Launch in Miami

Kate Upton rewore a pair of black mesh pumps to the launch party for the 60th anniversary of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue in Miami on Friday night.
The model previously wore the sheer stiletto shoes at the 2024 Disney Upfront in New York City last week at the Javits Center. Then, on Thursday she slipped into a pair of Dolce & Gabbana sandals featuring a satin bow for the New York City launch of the Swimsuit Issue.
Upton appears on two covers for the 2024 issue: in one, she appears in a group collage featuring other prior cover stars. In the second, she appears alone. The host of Hulu’s upcoming fashion design competition show “Dress My Tour,” Upton first appeared on the cover of the Swimsuit Issue in 2011 and has covered the magazine five times.
About the shoe
Upton’s shoe is a pointed-toe pump. It features a mesh upper, in line with the sheer trend seen most prominently with brands like Saint Laurent.

The footwear features a tall, thin stiletto heel with a topline that cuts high enough on the foot that there is no toe cleavage.
Sheer shoes are trending
Sheer footwear has been trending since 2023 and have worked their way into 2024. Designers use a variety of materials including mesh, lace or clear fabrications like PVC to show the wearer’s foot and toes while still covering them.
Saint Laurent has notably been a proponent of sheer whether by way of PVC mules or in apparel such as tights. Christian Louboutin has also gotten in on the trend with its designs like the Follies Strasse pump. Stuart Weitzman has a pump that looks similar to the one Upton is wearing. Others like Sandy Liang, Manolo Blahnik and Aquazzura all have sheer shoes as well.
