The Prince and Princess of Wales have officially unveiled their Christmas card this year — which includes a surprising shoe choice.
Within the black-and-white portrait shot by Josh Shinner, Prince William and Kate Middleton pose with their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Within the image, Kate, Charlotte and Louis each wear a pair of low-top sneakers without socks; Louis and Charlotte’s feature dark lace-up styles with capped white toes, while Kate’s takes a monochrome slip-on silhouette.
Meanwhile, Prince William and George each wear dark suede boots for another matching moment. Within the portrait, all members of the royal family each wear coordinating ensembles, featuring collared button-down shirts and dark denim jeans.

For the occasion, the royals also shared their Christmas card portrait on Instagram. This year’s portrait notably included similar ensembles and comfortable footwear choices as their 2022 card, which found the family outfitted in a blue and white palette featuring shorts, polos and button-down shirts paired with various sneaker styles. Princess Charlotte notably wore a similar pair of cap-toed sneakers on this occasion, as well.
The family’s holiday card announcement follows the news of their annual Christmas Eve service, “Royal Carols: Together at Christmas.” For the third year in a row, Middleton will host the musical event that will be broadcasted on ITV at 7:45pm (2:45pm EST) on Sunday, Dec. 24. The princess announced the occasion on the program’s YouTube channel, which you can view online now.
