If you don’t count on Julia Fox for anything else you can count on her for a look to get people talking. At one point she helped pusher her fame with a series of pap walks, often wearing little known designers crafting pieces from untraditional materials. She turned that into a competition show with “OMG Fashun.” But even on red carpets she’s always looking to surprise.
At the Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday, she kept that up. The actor attended the event wearing an all black look form Willy Chavarria’s collaboration with Adidas. It featured, puffed shoulders, a high neck and a skirt that was part pencil skirt part pleated number. For shades, she picked up a pair of head-turning frames from the Mugler collaboration with Gentle Monster.
For shoes, Fox couldn’t resist: she went eccentric. She wore a pair of Marni black leather pumps featuring spikes on the bottom. This isn’t to say that they didn’t go thematically with the rest of the look. The Chavarria for Adidas look was clearly inspired by sports, and the heals were as well. The spikes were cleats. In addition, the shoe included a stitch detail, evoking the stitching on a football.
The silhouette featured a sharp and narrow toe box. The rubber heel is a modest 2.5 inches. SSENSE is currently selling the Marni black leather spike pump for $380. Marni sells the shoe with a higher heel. The company also has boot iterations.
It was an eccentric flare on one of the most classic styles of shoe. Black leather stiletto pumps are generally considered one of the versatile heels for women. Many brands offer various versions of the shoe, typically tweaking the silhouette by making the vamp lower, or changing the shape of the toe box.
Fox enjoys a statement shoe. That can be a chunky platform boot like she wore to the 2025 Grammy Awards. In addition, Fox wore Dsquared2’s Skate Moss heel on the “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” That shoe includes ice skating blades on the bottom. They had previously been worn by Bree Runway and Mariah the Scientist. The Canadian brand has since re-released the shoe.
