Jourdan Dunn attended a special 30th-anniversary concert of “The Lion King” held today in London. The event celebrates the fashion collaboration between Disney and Balmain. The collaboration with the designer brand inspired by the Disney franchise will be available worldwide on July 8th.
The runway regular stepped out in a pair of classic black pumps hailing from Christian Louboutin. The silhouette was most similar to the French brand’s Condora 85 style. The classic silhouette was crafted of glossy black leather and featured sharp knife-like triangular toes, 3 to 4-inch thick block heels and eye-catching blood-red bottoms, a design staple of the design house.
The angular sharp lines of Dunn’s footwear acted to diversify the otherwise common silhouette, bringing it into the 21st century. The Louboutin brand was founded on classic silhouettes that were subsequently elevated to add drama, setting their styles apart from the rest. The stark red soles are an instantly recognizable touch, offering contrast and visual interest.
Pointed pumps are and have always been a popular footwear silhouette. The sharpened style, and many like it, has been spotted on a plethora of top stars including Jennifer Garner, Hillary Clinton, Zoe Kravitz, Jennifer Coolidge, Dua Lipa and Mia Goth, among many others.
True to the nature of the event, the British model wore a Balmain mini dress, likely from their Disney collaboration. The garment featured intricate gold beading in various sizes, creating textural contrast. The beading was fixed to black fabric, making the detail pop. Dunn’s dress also featured a plunging neckline and exaggerated shoulders, creating a powerful structural look. Rounding out her ensemble, Dunn wore striking gold earrings.
Disney and Balmain’s “The Lion King” collection offers ready-to-wear designs and accessories for men and women that draw inspiration from Africa’s artisanal traditions while celebrating a new generation of African talents.
