Joe Biden Dons Timeless Black Shoes at Trump Inauguration 2025

Joe Biden wore classic black men’s dress shoes to the inauguration of President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C., on Monday.
The former U.S. president sported oxfords with thick soles that bore a resemblance to a lace-up style by Cole Haan. The style’s cushioned midsole design was similar to the footwear brand’s ØriginalGrand Remastered Wingtip Oxfords. Biden paired the classic shoes with a navy suit and navy wool overcoat for the ceremony.
Other features of his footwear included smooth leather uppers and cushioned collars. It would make sense if Biden was wearing Cole Haan shoes as this isn’t the first time he’s stepped out in the brand.

Last March, the 46th president of the United States was seen in Cole Haan’s Zerøgrand leather wingtip brogue oxfords, which are crafted with a slightly chunkier sole. According to the website, they feature a FlowerFoam EVA midsole made from 25 percent dandelion rubber.
The former head of state was also photographed in black loafers with cushioned midsoles at the White House earlier this month. When Biden isn’t wearing formal shoes, he often dons sneakers from best-selling brands like Hoka, On Running, and Skechers.
In 2024, he was pictured in Hoka‘s Transport shoes equipped with a cushioned footbed for added stability. And in 2023, he stepped out in Skechers’ signature Slip-ins. On another occasion, while out biking in Delaware, Biden was seen in On’s Cloudflow 4 sneakers.
Looking back at his shoe style through the years, it’s evident that the politician favors shoes with plenty of supportive cushioning underfoot, whether he’s donning dress shoes or sneakers.
As for his wife Jill Biden, the former first lady and educator popped in a purple ensemble complete with purple suede pumps for the big day.
