First lady Jill Biden, joined by her husband U.S. President Joe Biden and NBA star Jaime Jaquez of the Miami Heat, attended the Cinco de Mayo reception in the Rose Garden of the White House on Monday in Washington, D.C. wearing a vibrant pair of lime green Stuart Weitzman GMCT Pointed Toe Slingback Pumps.
Biden has a robust history of eye-catching footwear moments, often arriving to high-profile events in Washington, D.C. sporting colorful styles and bold silhouettes. In April of this year, the first lady was photographed attending the 2024 White House Easter Egg Roll in a pair of knee-high brown suede boots. Biden’s shoes, worn in a rich caramel colorway, were adorned with a rounded-toe silhouette, estimated 2-inch block heel and exposed stitching detail.

Cinco de Mayo, which marks Mexico’s victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla in 1862, has become a celebration of Mexican-American culture in the U.S. The President invited Jaquez to speak during the White House’s Cinco de Mayo reception as a representative of his Mexican-American culture.
About the Shoes
The first lady’s shoes, made from 100% calf leather and suede, featured a pointed-toe silhouette and an 11cm, or 4.3-inch, heel. These pumps, designed in Spain, included a slingback strap for fit. Her shoes were adorned with a row of rectangular crystals along the upper vamp, adding a reflective shine as she walked through the property’s Rose Garden.
A number of stars have recently been spotted in the same lime green colorway as they attend red carpet premieres, Hollywood parties and events. Most recently, “Euphoria’s” Hunter Schafer was photographed after stepping out for dinner at Funke Restaurant in Los Angeles in a pair of green satin pumps. The actress’ shoes featured an elongated pointed-toe silhouette, rounded topline and an estimated 2-inch stiletto heel.
Bright Hues: An Emerging Designer Trend
From Stuart Weitzman and Gianvito Rossi to Prada and Gucci, a number of designers have integrated neon colorways into their most recent footwear collections. Desperate to stand out among the pool of designers implementing bright hues into their spring presentations, brands will implement unique silhouettes, whimsical adornments and textured accents into their shoes for a modern look.
