Jill Biden showcased Christian Dior‘s popular logo slingback pumps in the White House’s Oval Office during President Biden’s farewell address on Wednesday (Jan. 15).
The educator, whose tenure as First Lady of the United States will end next week, styled an elegant black knee-length dress with the French luxury fashion house’s best-selling J’Adior silhouette in black. The pointed style features a two-tone ‘J’Adior’ embroidered cotton ribbon embellished with a flat bow and the brand’s curvy, comma-inspired stiletto heel. While the pumps come in a kitten heel iteration, Dr. Biden looked to be wearing the 4-inch version.
The shoe is also offered in various materials from smooth leather to velvet. She opted for the technical fabric which delivers a textured appearance. The slingback heels are finished with a smooth leather lining. Retailing for $1,050, Dior’s ‘J’Adior’ in technical fabric is currently available to shop in two colorways on their website.
This isn’t the first time Jill Biden has been spotted in the sleek yet whimsical stilettos. The former teacher just donned the same pair at the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter on Jan. 9. She also wore them at the Dec. 7 reopening of Notre Dame de Paris, the famous French cathedral that was restored after a 2019 fire.
Maria Grazia Chiuri, the label’s creative director and first female artistic director, launched the original J’Adior line in 2017. The distinctive style is a favorite of celebrities and is frequently seen on and off the red carpet. Dior ambassadors like Natalie Portman, Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize Theron, and Riley Keough have all stepped out in variations of the slingbacks on multiple occasions over the years. Kate Middleton is also a fan of the bow-adorned heels.
When it comes to Jill’s shoe style, she gravitates toward chic, classic looks. She often wears pointed-toe pumps in neutral tones from brands like Valentino, Stuart Weitzman, and Jimmy Choo. It’s not uncommon for her to go monochromatic, pairing her ensemble with her footwear.
