Jennifer Hudson certainly has her plate loaded with exciting current and upcoming projects, but every so often she makes it a point to get some leisure time in for catching a basketball game. Joined by her son David Otunga Jr., the EGOT Award winner donned a pair of black Gucci combat boots with red laces while sitting courtside at the Crypto.com arena for Friday night’s Philadelphia 76ers vs. Los Angeles Lakers matchup.
Hudson, however, wasn’t the only one serving up flashy courtside style as her 14-year-old son David was also dripped out to the nines donned a pair of the Nike Air Jordan 1 Mid for the coup de grâce.
Hudson has long been a fan of wearing combat boots laced and unlaced over the years. Originally designed to be worn by soldiers in the military, combat boots have since become something of a staple in the world of popular fashion much like aviator sunglasses and bomber jackets. While most combat boots automatically come with standard black laces.
Gucci has been known on multiple occasions to give new meaning to what’s considered traditional in terms of lace color and styling. For Friday night’s event, Hudson’s glossy black Gucci boots were assisted by vivid attention-grabbing red laces.
The Air Jordan Mid model has an extensive history that dates back to the original Air Jordan 1 designed in 1985 by Peter Moore. While Jordan himself preferred playing in Mid models, the mid-level iteration of the shoe wasn’t officially released until around 2001.
At the time of its release, Mids were considered a reasonable alternative in terms of pricing to the Jordan 1 High as the former was and still is more expensive than the latter, but the shoe has since experienced something of a mixed reaction amongst sneaker lovers and collectors. While some Jordan 1 Mids will take you in the price range territory of AJ1 High models, the average price of a Mid seems to land around $125.
