Jenna Ortega Goes for Sky-High Louboutin Maria Frou Pumps for ‘Death of a Unicorn’ Premiere at SXSW

Jenna Ortega leaned into cool girl style with an Oscar de la Renta suit and one of Christian Louboutin‘s most extravagant platform pumps at the “Death of a Unicorn” premiere.
The actress stepped out during the SXSW Conference & Festivals at the Paramount Theatre on March 8 in Austin, Texas along with her castmates Paul Rudd, Will Poulter, Anthony Carrigan and more. Ortega, who is shaping up to be one of Hollywood’s most stylish rising stars, was styled by Enrique Melendez and together, they mixed the menswear trend with a pair of feminine, sky-high platform shoes.
Ortega wore a plaid, wool suit with hints of light blue, gray and black, which she paired with a burgundy-red shirt and tie, with matching glasses and a red wine-color lipstick. The suit was made up of a oversized jacket and high-waist trousers that featured a wide leg that obscured the shoe. For accessories, Ortega kept it simple and wore diamond earrings and rings by Kendra Scott and a watch from Omega.

To combat the length of the trouser and give the petite star a boost, Ortega opted for a pair of towering platforms from Christian Louboutin. The shoes are from the French designer’s Flamencaba capsule collection and are the awe-inspiring Maria Frou Alta 160 Platform Pumps, which Jennifer Lopez recently wore at the Sundance Film Festival in January.
The dramatic pumps are made with a black satin material and have a point toe, romantic handmade ruffles that sit at the heels of the foot and inspired by Flamenco dresses, and stand on a 6.5-inch sharp stiletto with a delicate strap that wraps around the ankle.
Louboutin introduced the shoe in May 2023, and shared the news via X: “If you want thrills, frills and more drama than ever, then give the Flamencaba capsule a resounding, ¡Olé!, and get ready to meet the Maria Frou Alta platform pump!”
The shoes are currently available on luxury e-commerce retailers for around $1,795.
“Death of a Unicorn” is a film from A24 that follows a man and his daughter after they accidentally hit and kill a unicorn with their car. His wealthy and powerful boss tries to exploit the creature’s miraculous curative properties, with horrific results, and the father and daughter duo do everything the can to stop it. The film is set to hit theaters on March 28.
