Janelle Monáe attended a Q&A held at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles on Wednesday. The event was held to discuss her career in music thus far. The event was moderated by music producer Jimmy Jam.
Flattering her feet in a classic silhouette, the “I Like That” songstress sported a pair of sharp white and black pointed-toe pumps. Monáe’s footwear was crafted out of durable and glossy mixed white and black patent leather and featured thin heels, around 3 to 4 inches. Additionally, the white pair featured knife-like triangular toes and a walkable sturdy construction. Monáe’s footwear lengthened her legs, streamlining her look.
Although the style was relatively simple in construction, Monáe’s footwear provided a sturdy and neutral base to build her outfit on. Neutral pumps often give the wearer’s look a clean and put-together appearance, especially when accompanied by more colorful pieces. Pumps, no matter the style, are exceedingly popular among the famous crowd. Among other celebrities, Monáe is a big fan of the shoe style, often wearing pumps for red carpet and formal occasions.
Coordinating her ensemble with her footwear, the “Lipstick Lover” singer was outfitted in a black and white Staud minidress. The garment was sleeveless, body-con and incorporated cut-out detailing along the waistline, providing the dress a dynamic appearance.
Along with her dress, Monáe wore a black pillbox hat and a variety of maximalist jewelry in silver on her fingers and fastened to her ears. The musician’s dark tresses were worn in a short and shaggy style that likely pulled inspiration from retro hairstyles.
Monáe’s shoe style is glamorous and sleek. The musician often pairs her red carpet outfits with heeled sandals, platform and pointed-toe pumps from top brands including Jimmy Choo, Giuseppe Zanotti and Christian Louboutin. Off-duty, she can also be seen in Oxford loafers, heeled boots and Converse and L.A.M.B. sneakers.
