Ice Spice Revamps Y2K Style in Platforms & Studded Denim for ‘Saturday Night Live’ Afterparty
Ice Spice gave Western style a Y2K twist at this week’s “Saturday Night Live” afterparty.
Following her performances in the show’s season 49 premiere, Ice Spice stepped out in New York City in a pair of towering heels. Though her style was largely hidden beneath her outfit, the rapper’s shoes featured brown leather uppers with rounded toes and swirling Western embossments.
Thick, dark brown soles with a ridged edge completed Ice Spice’s footwear with a dynamic, balanced height boost.
The “Deli” singer’s platforms added a sharp finish to her outfit for the occasion: a stone-washed blue denim bustier top and matching jeans, each trimmed with aged metal studs. The set was instantly reminiscent of similar denim from the early 2000’s, creating an instant Y2K throwback; today, 2000’s denim details like prints, stitching and embroidery have grown in popularity yet again, as seen in new pieces by True Religion, Baby Phat and Ksubi, among others.
Ice Spice simply boosted her denim outfit with a gleaming diamond cross pendant necklace, allowing its matching pieces to take center stage.

The singer’s outing followed her debut “SNL” guest appearance, where she took the stage to perform two musical sets. The first, “In Ha Mood,” found Ice Spice dancing onstage in knee-high boots with thick platform soles, sleekly elevating a cropped polo, frayed denim shorts and wide crystal-embellished belt for the occasion.
For the second performance, which featured her and Rema’s song “Pretty Girl,” Ice Spice was introduced by friend Taylor Swift. This set found the singer in a pair of furry knee-high boots, paired with a ruched taupe miniskirt and green crop top, cinched by yellow webbing straps for a utilitarian edge.
When it comes to footwear, Ice Spice’s shoes vary from cozy to slick. The rapper often wears heeled platform sandals and boots from a wide variety of brands, including Coach, Rick Owens and Marc Jacobs. Off-duty, she can also be seen in slides and flat sneakers from Adidas, Converse and Ugg for comfortable outfit bases.
