Gayle King was wearing one of her favorite new shoe brands when longtime friend Oprah Winfrey shocked her with a surprise 70th birthday celebration at Ci Siamo in New York City.

Rocking green Sneex to match her sweater dress, King was met with a star-studded crowd at the swanky Mediterranean restaurant, where Robert DeNiro, Katy Perry, Stephen Colbert, Ava DuVernay and more were in attendance.

King was wearing a vibrant knit green dress with a drop waist skirt designed with layers of swishing fringe. The ribbed top featured short sleeves and a modest crew neck. Her accessories included two layered silver pendant necklaces while her hair was worn out in a swishy auburn bob.

To complement her brightly colored dress, the “CBS Mornings” host opted for a pair of green shoes from Sneex, the new sneaker-heel fusion brand from the mind of Sara Blakely, founder of Spanx, who was also in attendance at the party. She wore The Tepper style in the color Varsity Green, which is priced at a $595. King is one of Sneex‘s biggest celebrity fans — since its debut earlier this year, she’s stepped out in multiple pairs of shoes from the label in various colors and styles.

On the day of her party, King seemed to be wearing the Tepper style, a shoe named for Blakely’s daughter, who accepted the Launch of the Year award on behalf of her mother at the Footwear News Achievement Awards on Dec. 4. With the look of a sneaker boosted by a stiletto, the Spanish-crafted shoe features Italian mesh, Nappa leather lining and suede. It also includes an adjustable strap across the foot as well.

King made a speech at the party expressing her surprise and gratitude to the guests.

“I can’t believe that you pulled this off. I can’t believe that you guys came for me. My birthday is December 28th and it’s always that week between Christmas and New Years. And I never want to inconvenience anybody, I never want to have anything. We always have dinner at Oprah’s in wherever we are at the Christmas holiday and I’m always very, very happy with that. So I wasn’t planning anything other than that.”

She went on to share the excitement she felt at seeing various guests who made the effort to be present for her milestone birthday.

Over the years, King has made a name for herself through her colorful wardrobe and extensive shoe collection. She often opts for perfectly matching footwear with any ensemble she wears and isn’t afraid to wear vibrant look, on and off the red carpet. See her shoe style through the years.
