Erykah Badu‘s fashion has long been considered iconic, and now she has an award to prove it. The musician was presented with the Icon Award at the CFDA Fashion Awards held in New York City on Oct. 28. Her ex and longtime friend Andre3000 presented her with the trophy.
True to form, Badu made a splash on the red carpet in a bold Thom Browne ensemble which was set off by black shoes with sharply pointed toes. She wore a thickly layered black outfit with white trim and a colorful headpiece.
Badu rounded out the oversized silhouette with a pair of patent leather brogue pumps from the American brand. The shoes featured perforations along the upper in addition to a sloped stiletto heel.
The Council of Fashion Designers of America celebrated the winners and honorees of
the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards at an intimate ceremony at The Museum of Natural History in New York City on Oct. 28. The awards were presided over by CFDA chairman Thom Browne and CEO Steven Kolb, and were hosted by Cynthia Erivo.
The presenters list included names like Anna Wintour, Amy Griffin, Blake Lively, Brandon Maxwell, Charles Melton, Da’Vine Joy, Randolph, Donna Karan, Jenny Freshwater, Marc Jacobs, Molly Gordon, Molly Ringwald, Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton and more.
Previous recipients of the Icon Award include Serena Williams, Lenny Kravitz, Zendaya and more stylish stars. Williams wore a black Thom Browne ensemble as well when she accepted the award in 2023.
A range of exciting footwear was seen at the event. Lively wore Christian Louboutin pumps; Jenna Lyons and Addison Rae wore modern Thom Browne shoes; and Katie Holmes slipped on Gianvito Rossi slingback pumps, to name a few examples.
