Erykah Badu Gets Ready for Fall in Angular Black Boots at ‘The Piano Lesson’ Premiere in Los Angeles

Erykah Badu served up whimsical style at Netflix’s “The Piano Lesson” premiere held in Los Angeles yesterday. The accomplished musician makes an appearance in the upcoming film playing the character Lucille.

Getting fall-ready, the “Love of My Life” singer sported a pair of sleek leather boots. The shoe pick included lush and slouchy leather uppers accompanied by sharp knife-like pointed toes. Thin 3 to 4-inch stiletto heels rounded out the set, lifting the musician to new heights. Badu’s footwear was angular and futuristic, giving “The Matrix” vibes. Although they were eclipsed by the hem of her skirt, Badu’s boots were likely calf length or higher.

A master of whimsical dressing, Badu donned a pleather maxi skirt fixed with rosettes made of the same fabric. On top, the performer sported a gray graphic tee and a crossbody belted accessory fixed with striking buckles. The singer also sported a black knitted headdress layered beneath a tall black hat.

Netflix’s “The Piano Lesson” is a 2024 musical drama directed by Malcolm Washington and starring talents like John David Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Erykah Badu, Corey Hawkins and Danielle Deadwyler, among others.

The film is based on a play of the same name written by American playwright August Wilson created in 1987. The Netflix movie follows the Charles family as they grapple with family legacy and difficult decisions while determining the fate of their heirloom piano, exploring deeper themes along the way.
