Emma Stone wanted to get her own joke in before “Saturday Night Live” kicked off its 50th anniversary special. The performer took to the red carpet with a bit of a gag: Her red custom halter dress from Louis Vuitton had pockets. And while this is often a detail that most women applaud in design, it’s likely not for the same reason Stone wanted the extra space. Into her pockets she stuffed popcorn which left a trail behind her as she walked the carpet.
Styled by Petra Flannery, the dress also contained a front split. This made it very easy to see her shoes. The heels are open-toed with a red-satin upper. The shoes are likely custom Louis Vuitton. They feature a thick strap over the toes with a rounded vamp. They are a D’orsay style meaning that the front and back of the upper are two separate parts. There’s an ankle strap on the back of the shoe. There’s also a wrapped stiletto heel that likely measures about four inches.
It is likely that Stone wore the same shoes to the Golden Globes last month. She also wore a red Louis Vuitton dress to that event. Though we could not see her full shoe, it was clear that she had chosen an open-toe style.
She’s not the only one to choose open-toe red satin shoes this award season. At the Critics Choice Awards where she took home an award, Zoe Saldana wore an open-toe style from Saint Laurent. In particular, she wore the brand’s La Scandale heel. That towering style features an open-toe, ankle strap as well as a platform. They were a custom version. She was styled by Flannery as well.
But at “SNL 50: The Anniversary Special” styles varied. Sabrina Carpenter stuck with platform styles, as is her habit, and wore the Christian Louboutin Loubi Queen Alta in nude. Blake Lively, who attended with her husband Ryan Reynolds, chose a crystal-studded Aquazzura Mini-Tequila sandal. Keke Palmer opted for a pair of Tom Ford Newton sandals with a brown snake-effect upper. All of those shoes featured exposed toes.
This weekend has seen the celebration of 50 years of “Saturday Night Live.” On Friday, that included a concert event. Tonight is the anniversary special with the likes of Cher, Miley Cyrus, Pedro Pascal, Miles Teller and Leslie Jones as guests to participate.
