With the focus on celebrity style has come the proliferation of “look-for-less” and “high fashion dupe” content. Companies like FashionNova and Shein often replicate designs worn by red carpet stars that are financially inaccessible to wider viewing audiences. But occasionally, there’s no need for a knock-off; the original item is affordable to most.
This weekend, between three Hollywood red carpet events (the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Producers Guild Awards and the Independent Spirit Awards), stars turned up wearing heels that were less than $150. Here, we take a look at a few from Betsey Johnson and Steven Madden.
On Saturday, Taraji P. Henson turned up to the Screen Actors Guild Awards wearing the Betsey Johnson “Dean” style in black. With rhinestones encrusting the heel and the toe strap, the design added sparkle to the actress who stars in 2023’s “The Color Purple.”
Henson was styled by the duo Wayman and Micah with the glitz of the heels complimenting her Bulgari necklace and bracelets. And while the heels provided the perfect finishing touch to the glamorous Giambatista Valli gown Henson wore that night, they fit neatly within most shoe budgets at $139.
On Sunday, “The Holdovers” actress Da’Vine Joy Randolph headed to the Independent Spirit Awards wearing Steven Madden heels. The minimalist “Partay” design features a square toe, as well as a bold, bulbous ankle and toe strap.
At 3.5 inches, the $99 stiletto sandal was the perfect match to Randolph’s burgundy dress and matching coat set.
Also on Sunday, “Oppenheimer” star Emily Blunt attended the Producers Guild of America Awards wearing a pair of Betsey Johnson “Viola” pumps in silver. With a pointed toe, the design features rhinestones and the Betsey blue sole.
Jessica Paster styled the look with an Easter egg blue dress from Oscar de la Renta. The “Viola” was originally $119 but is now priced at $59.
