Dua Lipa might’ve been feeling some “Future Nostalgia” over the weekend. The pop star looked to the fashion of the early aughts to attend day one of the iHeartRadio Music Festival on Sept. 22 in Las Vegas, where she wore Tom Ford for Gucci sandals dating back to 2002 with a black-on-black ensemble from Ann Demeulemeester’s spring 2006 collection.
Lipa’s archival look consisted of a floor-length black skirt with a zipper at the center that was fastened down to the mid-thigh area, allowing her legs to be exposed. This was paired with a vest embellished with metal detailing on the pockets, which aligned with her chainmail-esque metallic bra peeking out beneath the top’s low V-neck.
The “Houdini” singer made it a full vintage look with a pair of shoes designed by Tom Ford for Gucci’s 2002 fall/winter collection — first unveiled when Lipa was still a child. The sandals featured a black band across the toes and two significantly thinner straps crossing in an X-shape over the foot.
Thicker straps in a similar width to the toe strap wrapped several times around her ankle in a manner reminiscent of a ballet slipper or gladiator sandal. Contributing a touch of shiny seaside glamour, the shoes featured mother of pearl inlaid along the toe and heel. A pre-owned pair of the shoes can be found on eBay for $425.
Dua Lipa appreciates an edgy look for a festival appearance; when performing at Glastonbury in June, she wore a studded black leather outfit including a pair of tall heeled boots. Again proving she’s comfortable in heels, she attended a Gucci show in May wearing platform horsebit slingback shoes, a fun reinterpretation of the brand’s classic loafer.
