Doechii Goes Grunge in Distressed Platform Combat Boots at BET Experience 2024 in Los Angeles

Doechii took the BETX main stage at the BET Experience 2024 held in Los Angeles on Saturday. The stage set was titled “Where Black Music Lives” and featured other acts including Latto, Baby Tate, Saucy Santana and Honey Bxby, among others.
For her performance, the “What It Is” singer wore a pair of platform combat boots. The grungy style featured silver snap closures, black laces, shiny but distressed leather uppers and lofty platform soles. The platform soles fixed Doechii with a boost, giving the illusion of length and height. The combat boots offered the performer’s look a grungy touch.
Similarly grungy styles can be purchased from a myriad of brands including Valentino, Dolls Kill, Dr. Martens, Dolce & Gabbana and Free People. Soldiers have worn combat boots since ancient times, however, the combat boot made its first official appearance in 1816 under a different name; the Jefferson boot.

Said boot was named after the 3rd US President Thomas Jefferson. Since its conception, the combat boot has gone through many changes, adopted by a multitude of counter cultures including the indie sleaze and grunge movements.
In a coordinating style, Doechii wore an alternative-inspired ensemble. The performer’s look was comprised of a red and black mini skirt featuring a tattered hem and floral appliques accompanied by a Diesel bra top in black and a sheer neutral shawl.
When it comes to shoe style, Doechii gravitates towards standout choices. She frequently opts for chunky platform boots, colorful sneakers, and eye-catching heels that perfectly complement her daring ensembles.
The BET Experience 2024 is a multi-day festival taking place from June 26 to June 30. This year’s festival will feature performances by The Roots, Common, Black Sheep, Cardi B, Gunna and Sexyy Red, along with live comedy routines from talents like Tiffany Haddish, Chris Spencer and Michael Blackson.
