Rapper Doechii is experiencing growing popularity. The performer’s star has been rising over the past few months, reaching new heights after a show-stopping performance at the Grammy Awards where she was dressed in Thom Browne. Now, she’s on the cover of “The Cut” magazine, which proclaims that win is just the beginning.
Doechii was shot by Richie Shazam for the feature and styled by Emma Oleck. In the cover image, she wears a red Miss Claire Sullivan pouf wing leotard and a pair of Area plate drop earrings. But it’s the shoes that demand attention.
The Florida-born rapper wore one of Christian Louboutin‘s latest styles: The Kate Clawmax pump. Most notably, Doechii’s version is the Goldie color way, covered in golden hair. This hair is atop a calf leather upper. The pump’s silhouette is an iteration of the popular Kate style with a soft pointed toe and rounded vamp. The shoe includes the signature Louboutin red sole — though it has been upgraded to the company’s “Everlasting” version, which does not chip.
The other distinguishing detail about the shoe is its heel. The heel is a beveled style that curves up and through the pump, piercing the back of the design. The heel is about four inches tall. The company is selling the shoe for $1,395 but all sizes are currently either listed as sold-out or purely available for pre-order. The black patent leather version of the shoe is $1,290 but is also sold-out. Retailers like Neiman Marcus still have the shoe.
The Kate Clawmax is the latest in a long line of shoes iterating on the Kate. The Kate itself is an iteration of the Pigalle but the company has since notably introduced the Kate in 2011, the So Kate in 2012, the Kate Max and now the Kate Clawmax. This year, the company also released the Miss Z, which is an update on the Kate.
Both the Kate Clawmax and Miss Z sport the new “Everlasting Red Sole.” While shoppers have complained in the past that the lacquered red soles will chip and peel off if not treated, the company has now treated the soles of various styles in its Spring 2025 line to prevent this. Those styles include the Kate Clawmax, Miss Z, Bellarose, and Lock Me Up Booty boot.
