Denzel and Pauletta Washington spoke during an event where Pulitzer-winning playwright August Wilson was posthumously given a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame held today in Hollywood. Other notable attendees included Malcolm Washington, Katia Washington, Constanza Romero, Danielle Deadwyler and Ted Sarandos, Co-CEO of Netflix.
Pauletta graced the exciting occasion in a pair of classic black leather boots. Perfect for combatting the winter weather, the silhouette included pointed toes, lush black leather uppers and short 2 to 3-inch block heels, offering the mother of four a subtle boost in height.
It’s hard to tell the length of Pauletta’s shoes because of the lengthy hem of her trousers, although it is likely they stop at the ankles. No matter the heel height or composition, leather boots make for the perfect addition to any wardrobe given the shoe’s versatility.
In a more comfortable manner, Denzel laced into a pair of Under Armour sneakers. The “Gladiator II” actor’s footwear featured blue and gray mesh uppers and non-slip thick rubber soles in white that acted to cushion the feet. Black lace-up closures gave way to Under Armour logo detailing throughout in contrasting white.
On the outfit front, Pauletta cozied up in what looked to be baggy leather trousers accompanied by a baggy white t-shirt and a black bomber jacket with white accents. Denzel was also ultra-cozy in a blue ribbed sweater and gray Under Armour trousers. He paired his laidback look with Under Armour’s Charged Pursuit 2 Running sneaker, adding another level of comfort to his ensemble.
August Wilson was a famed American playwright. Wilson is best known for authoring a cycle of ten plays – collectively titled either “The Century Cycle” or “The Pittsburgh Cycle,” that chronicle the changing social and historical landscape of black America over 100 years, with all but one set in Pittsburgh’s Hill District. Wilson was awarded a Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for his work. He is known as one of the most celebrated and important American storytellers of the last 50 years.
In 2024, Denzel produced an adaptation of “The Piano Lesson,” in which his son Malcolm Washington made his feature directorial and starred his other son, John David Washington. The film is an adaptation of the 1987 Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Wilson. Denzel also produced other film adaptations of Wilson’s plays from the Pittsburgh Cycle series, including “Fences” and “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”, which were released in 2016 and 2020 respectively.
