Demi Moore Carries Dog Pilaf, Bunny Bag and Wears Gold Gilded Slingback Shoes in Sheer Thom Browne Dress at the 2025 Independent Spirit Awards
After a long acting career, Demi Moore made her red carpet debut at the 2025 Independent Spirit Awards over the weekend as a part of her successful award circuit tour for her film “The Substance.” The actress appeared with her Chihuahua, Pilaf, in-hand as she does for many events. And her and stylist Brad Goreski had quite the look in-store for fans.
On Saturday, Moore chose a sheer Thom Browne look. The outfit included a sheer blazer featuring three buttons as well as a corset and long pencil skirt. The look was made of silk organza with silk faille trim. In addition, it was lined in a fabric striped with the signature Thom Browne red, white and blue. Pilaf was joined by a mini rabbit chain bag from the label as well.
For shoes, Moore also went with Thom Browne. She wore a pair of black patent leather slingback shoes. They feature a pointed-toe and were styled like penny loafers. They also included cutouts within the design. The sculpted heel with its flared silhouette was gold.

It appears that Thom Browne does not sell this exact shoe. The label does sell a mule version of the cutout penny loafer. That shoe is made out of a pebble grain leather, though, and the curved heel is not gold. There is also a wingtip slingback pump with a low-cut vamp in patent leather but that shoe did not include a cutout.
Thom Browne often takes cues from men’s formal wear and uses it across all of his designs, including shoes. Wingtips, penny loafers and brogue detailing all find themselves as inspirations for women’s pumps, platform styles and more. Moore knows this well having worn shoes from the company on multiple occasions. In September at the Toronto International Film Festival she wore a brogue shoe turned pump with the company’s signature curved heel. She also went with a classic black brogues In October while out in New York City. That style retails for $1,020.

The 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards took place on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Kristen Bell hosted the ceremony.
