Cynthia Erivo sat down with fellow actress Jessica Chastain for a Q&A held on Dec. 20 in New York.
For the occasion, the “Harriet” star donned thigh-high black leather boots. The winter-ready pick included high-shine contrasting leather uppers including a more rugged leather that made up most of the sock-like uppers and a glossier patent leather that made up the base.
The separation between the two fabrics was clear, given their textural differences. Slightly pointed toes gave way to sky-high platform soles and 4 to 5-inch stiletto heels, giving Erivo an otherworldly boost. The “Pinocchio” actress’ shoe is most similar to styles from brands like Christian Louboutin, Casadei and Burberry.
Opting for a rugged grungy moment to match her footwear, Erivo wore a black leather trench coat layered over an olive green bomber jacket. Underneath her warm outerwear, she wore a black sheer lace turtleneck and matching black suede trousers.
Erivo has always had a particularly head-turning sense of style both on and off the red carpet. Since starring role in the 2024 film “Wicked,” the British thespian has upped her footwear game, including platform styles galore paired with seemingly impossible stiletto heels. Boots seem to be her go-to silhouette, however, Erivo also tends towards classic pumps in an array of finishes while on talk shows or red carpets. Shoes from Christian Louboutin, Schiaparelli, Thom Browne, Marc Jacobs and Jimmy Choo have all been a part of her footwear rotation as of late.
The cast of “Wicked” also includes Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Bowen Yang, Ariana Grande and Jeff Goldblum. The adaptation acts as a prequel to “The Wizard of Oz,” and recounts everything that happened before Dorothy made her way down the yellow brick road. The first half of “Wicked” was released in theaters on Nov. 27, and the second installment will come out on Nov. 21, 2025.
